Lone Elk Park is one of the many parks that are in the St. Louis County Park system and is located in West St. Louis County. Being a Wildlife Management Area does make it a unique park and visitors will encounter bison, elk and deer, as well as wild turkey and many varieties of ducks and geese. Hiking trails and picnic sites provide a wonderful day of outside recreation with family and friends. But, please take note, NO DOMESTIC ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE PARK, NOT EVEN IF THEY ARE CONFINED IN A VEHICLE!
Park Amenities: 546 acres of park land, the park is a wildlife management area and is home to bison, wild turkey, water fowl, elk, and deer; 2 hiking trails; 2 picnic shelters, one with 10 tables, 2 barbecue pits, electric, water, restrooms and open space for volleyball, horseshoes, washers; the second shelter has 10 tables, 1 barbecue pit, and restrooms; 2 picnic sites each with 3 tables, 1 barbecue pit and restrooms, fishing is allowed in the lake.
The World Bird Sanctuary is also located within Lone Elk Park.
